Waimea Nurseries has the capacity and capabilities to supply plant material to India (and potentially other countries). We have been part of the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise delegations to India in 2011, 2012 and 2013 to work in partnership with pipfruit nursery and orchards.
Based in Nelson, New Zealand (41°S), we have an ideal climate for growing rootstocks and fruit trees with high sunshine hours, good rainfall levels and a distinct winter season.
All rootstocks grown by Waimea Nurseries are certified as Free of Specified Viruses (FSV) under the NZ Fruit Tree Growers Group Rootstock Certification Scheme. Our rootstock production is also managed under the recommendations of the Pipfruit NZ European Canker Management programme.
We have many years of experience of sending plant material around the world, and have sent several successful shipments of rootstocks to India. The rootstocks are delivered in bundles, wrapped and packed in moist medium. We can arrange for the phytosanitary certification through AsureQuality. The rootstocks are harvested from the stoolbeds from May-June so can be supplied between May and November. Depending on the size of the order and delivery location, we can send in cartons using air freight or in a container using sea freight.
We can supply the following rootstocks:
